Dating to Circa 1930, these beautiful lights became a popular addition to homes, luxury hotels, cinemas and upmarket establishments.
(The Hoover Building in London)
The design being simple and neat, a backplate that screws neatly against the wall. The clam shells themselves are held in place by generally chrome surrounds but occasionally brass or copper.
Genuine period Art Deco Shell wall lights are becoming harder to find. www.artdecowardrobes.com offer a wonderful selection of Art Deco Wall lights especially this particular style.
The wall lights are refurbished in our "in-house workshop" where the backplates are sprayed white or cream, the chrome polished, new bayonets fitted and the lights are rewired ready to install by a qualified electrician.
The shells come in many different colours, vibrant greens and yellows, soft amber, pink, coral, opaque and milk white all adding something unique and beautiful to your home.
Aswell as Art Deco Shell Wall Lights it is possible to purchase similar pendant ceiling lights. These consist of 3 clam shells which locate into a chrome fitment and this suspends from 3 chains, the bulb hanging down the centre of the fitment.
Again the shells come in various colours and if you are fortunate you may find a central light to match your wall lights, however this is becoming more difficult to obtain.
It is prudent to purchase these period lights from a professional establishment to ensure you do not inadvertantly end up purchasing reproduction lights or lights that have not been professionally refurbished.
